Causes and Treatments For Female Hair Loss

In my clinic, we see women who suffer from hair loss on the front of their head. Many of these women are active and athletic. Some are even active military. As you can imagine, the hair growth is slow in all of these women and it is quite noticeable.

It is not uncommon for women to have hair loss on the front of their head. The reason behind this is that the scalp is tighter at the front of the head where hair is less likely to grow. Women with hair loss will typically complain of experiencing hair fall from one side of the head to the other when it comes to men.

The causes of hair loss on the front of the head is not known for sure. It is believed that the hormonal levels in a woman's body are higher than normal at times. This causes the follicles in the scalp to shut down causing the hair to fall out. Since hormones affect many parts of the body, it is hard to pinpoint exactly what is the cause of the hair loss.

However, for those women who experience hair loss on the front of their head, it is generally easy to fix the problem. There are a number of products available on the market to treat this condition. These include topical solutions and oral supplements. The topical treatments are usually the first line of treatment for females who have excess balding or those who are losing hair on the front of their head.

For a topical treatment, there are a number of choices. One topical solution that has been around for quite some time is the use of minoxidil. This drug is known as Rogaine for short and it is used to block the DHT hormone that causes hair loss on the front of the head. The use of Rogaine is usually quite effective but is fairly expensive.

Another topical product that can be used to treat females who have thinning or losing hair on the front of their head is the use of Rogaine. As well, a few newer drugs are now available that work in much the same way as minoxidil. I find that the oral drugs work a lot better for me than the topical ones do. They are more convenient and give you the same results.

Finally, there are oral supplements available that treat hair loss on the front of the head. These supplements work by blocking the production of the hormone that causes hair loss on the front of the head. Since the hair follicles also go dormant during the follicle's dormant period, these supplements only block the enzyme that breaks down the hair. As a result, the hair follicles die off and hair growth is restored.

I hope that this article helps you understand the causes of female's hair loss and the treatments available to you. Although, hair loss on the front of the head can be difficult to deal with, these treatments can make it easier.
